Coo-Var high performance Primer

£89.28

Coo-Var high performance primer is a water based two pack epoxy primer to assist adhesion on difficult surfaces.

Coo-Var high performance should be diluted with 10% water for application.

To assist the adhesion of Coo-Var Anti-Slip Acrylic Floor Paint or other Coo-Var products to difficult floors, tiles, etc or where mechanical abrasion is not practical and chemical etching has to be used. It is to act as a barrier between old floorings and selected Coo-Var products.

A Clear low odour floor coating ideal for hygiene sensitive areas, hospitals, food and beverage processing plants.

It should only be applied at above 10°C with a brush or short pile roller with a wet film thickness of 100 microns or dry film thickness of 45 microns, the expected spreading rate is 35 to 50 sq.m/5 kilo pack.

Before applying the product you should make sure all surfaces are clean, dry, sound and free from any contaminants.

For concrete – power floated, granolithic and smooth surfaces should be roughened first to provide a good “key” for the paint. This can be done mechanically by abrading or blasting. These processes will have the advantage in addition to preparing the surface of also removing dirt and laitance.

New concrete must be allowed to cure thoroughly which can take up to 3 months.

Other surfaces have to be prepared and primed with the suitable primer for that substrate.

For existing painted surfaces – Surfaces should be cleaned, degreased and sanded to ensure an adequate “key” is produced. Remove all loose and flaking material and treat bare areas as new substrate and prepare accordingly.

This coating should only be applied above 10°C by a brush or short pile roller, the recommended wet film thickness is 100 microns and dry film thickness being 45 microns.

The expected spreading rate following the film thickness recommendations is 35 to 50 sq.m/5 kilo pack.

The initial cure time for Coo-Var High Performance Primer is 2 to 3 hours at 20°C, the hard dry time is 16 hours at 20°C and for it to be fully cured will take 5 to 7 days at 20°C.
