Jotun Pilot QD a Fast Air drying zinc phosphate High Build Primer for Steel. It is certified for use as a fire approved primer for Steelmaster Intumescent Paints. It is designed for new construction and maintenance of steel with rapid drying, overcoating and handling properties for high productivity. It has high volume solids and can be applied up to 125 microns by airless spray in a single coat. It can be also be applied by brush and roller in intricate areas or for site remedial work. Pilot QD has high coverate rates, available in a matt finish in a range of stock colours. Available for free delivery throughout the UK in 5lt and 20lt containers.

Surface Preparation.
Carbon Steel: Minimum St 2 , Recommended Abrasive blast clean to Sa 2.5. (ISO 8501-1)
Aluminium: As a minimum the surface shall be clean dry and have a rough dull profile. It is recommended to lightly sweep blast using non metallic abrasives leaving a clean, rough dull surface
Coated Surfaces: Ensure the existing coat is intact, compatible, dry and free from oil grease and other contaminants.

Jotun Pilot QD Primer is a fast air drying zinc phosphate anticorrosion primer with a matt finish, providing fast handling and overcoating times to increase productivity . It can be applied direct to steel and aluminium fabrications by Airless spray, Conventional spray, brush or roller.
Pilot QD Primer is recommended for steel structures and fabrications, containers, modular buildings, construction equipment and building products. It is a high solids (56%) high build primer providing excellent adhesion to steel and may be used when abrasive blast cleaning is not possible.
Jotun Pilot QD Zinc Phosphate Primer can be applied up to 125 microns in a single coat by airless spray, two coats may be required to achieve the recommended DFT by brush or roller. It is resistant to continuous temperatures of up to 120°C
It is Fire certified for use as a primer under Steelmaster Intumescent paints. It is certified not to spread surface flames IMO FTPC Part 5. An economic primer with high coverage rates providing up to 15 years protection in C4 Industrial environments.
Pilot QD zinc phosphate primer can be overcoated with a range of air drying alkyd and acrylic topcoats including Conseal TU, AVACE Ultra Topcoat, Pilot ACR and Pilot II.
