Jotun Seaforce 60M Self Polishing Antifouling

Jotun Seaforce 60M is a high solids hydrolysing self polishing antifouling based on Polymeric Plasticizer technology. It provides very good fouling protection which is achieved by self polishing characteristics that reduce hull deterioration. It should only be used as a finish coat in immersed environments. It is suitable on approved primers and tie coats on aluminium and carbon steel substrates. It can be applied at sub zero temperatures. It is recommended for under water hull in drydocking environments.  Jotun Seaforce 60M is recommended for vessels operating in global service with dry docking intervals up to 36 months on vertical sides and 60 months on the flatbottom. Application methods include Airless spray, conventional spray, brush or roller. Jotun SeaForce 60M is an air drying hydrolysing antifouling coating based on ion exchange technology providing good fouling protection. This is achieved by self polishing characteristics reducing hull deterioration. SeaForce 60M is a topcoat to be used in immersed environments only. SeaForce 60M is suitable on approved primers and tie coats on aluminium and carbon steel substrates for vessels operating in global service, including fresh water exposure during newbuilding outfitting and is recommended for deep sea trade.

SeaForce 60M is designed for vessels trading at a wide range of speed and activity. SeaForce 60M antifouling paint can be used for long service periods up to 60 months as part of a complete coating system over Jotamastic 87 or  Penguard HB Primer and Vinyguard Silver-grey tie coat.

SeaForce 60M can be applied by Airless spray, Conventional spray, brush or roller although two coats may be required to achieve the recommended dry film thickness. It can be applied at sub zero surface temperatures.

If you are applying Seaforce 60M by Airless spray then it is recommended that the minimum pressure on the nozzle is 150 bar or 2100 psi.

To secure lasting adhesion to the subsequent product all surfaces should be clean, dry and free from any contamination.

For a new tie coat or new antifouling it is recommended that you remove any contamination that could interfere with the intercoat adhesion. And exceeding the maximum recoat intervals will require cleaning/abrading and/or application of additional coats depending on the condition.

For aged antifouling with a leached layer it is recommended that the layer is removed by thorough fresh water washing at a minimum nozzle pressure of 340 bar.

Depending on what substrate temperature you are applying Seaforce 60M at will depend on how fast the drying and curing time will be. The fastest the product will dry is when the temperature is at 40°C, this will result in the product being touch dry in 30 minutes, dry to overcoat in 6 hours and dried/cured for immersion in 8 hours. For full drying and curing times check the Seaforce 60M data sheet.

When three or more antifouling coats are applied in rapid succession it is recommended to double the time for immersion.

Containers of Seaforce 60M must be kept in a dry, cool and well ventilated space and away from sources of heat and ignition. The minimum shelf life for this product is 12 months at a shelf life of 23°C.
