A Fast Drying and Handling two pack Anticorrosion Epoxy Primer for abrasive blast cleaned steel.
Selemix Epoxy Primer 2.704 is the recommended primer for abrasive blasted steel providing excellent adhesion and anticorrosion protection. It may also be applied to zinc plated steel and aluminium.
Selemix Epoxy Primer is a matt finish available in Grey and White. It has excellent adhesion, abrasion and chemical resistance. It is recommended as a primer on steel in C5-M environments when overcoated with Selemix Acrylic and Polyurethane topcoats.
It is a fast drying primer touch dry in 4 hours and can be overcoated in 1-2 hours. It may also be forced dried at 60c in commercial paintshops.
Epoxy Primer Base colour, Epoxy Hardener 9-020 and Epoxy Thinner 1-410 should be purchased individually. A Fast Epoxy Hardener 9-025 is available for rapid cure.
Description
Selemix Epoxy Primer is a two pack high build primer which can be applied wet on wet, reducing labour costs and production downtime. It is the preferred primer when applied onto abrasive blast cleaned steel. It may also be applied to zinc plated metal and aluminium.
When used with Selemix Polyurethane or Selemix Acrylic topcoats it forms part of a system suitable for aggressive C5-M low environments. It is available from stock in Grey and White or may be tinted in contrast with the topcoat colour.
It can be applied by Airless spray or Conventional spray on a variety of substrates including steel, galvanised steel, stainless steel and light alloys. Selemix Epoxy is ideal as a primer for Selemix Polyurethane and Selemix Acrylic topcoats when excellent chemical and weather resistance is required.
Selemix Epoxy Primer is a two pack sandable primer for corrosion protection in aggressive C5-M environments for Agricultural & Construction equipment, Stonecrushers & Earthmoving equipment, Commercial Transport and Steel Fabrications.
It can be applied up to 80 microns dry film thickness in a single coat by airless spray or conventional spray equipment. It can be applied wet on wet allowing up to 15 mins flash off between coats. For ultra smooth finishing Selemix Epoxy Primer can be flatted after 1 hr force drying or after 24hrs at 20c and can be overcoated with Selemix topcoats after 2hrs.
Epoxy Primer Base Colour, Epoxy Hardener 9-020 and Epoxy Thinner 1-410 should be purchased separately. The mix ratio is 4 parts base to 1 part hardener and up to 1 part thinner. A Fast Epoxy Hardener 9-025 is also available for faster cure.
Surface Preparation
Carbon Steel: Minimum St2 (ISO 8501-1). Abrade with P80-120 (dry)
Galvanised steel: Surface to be clean and dry abrade with Scotch Brite
Aluminium, GRP: Surface to be clean and dry, abrade with P240-320 (dry)

Nozzle tip: 13-15 thou Airless, 1.6-1.8mm conventional
Pressure at nozzle: 2000psi Airless, 50psi Conventional
Thinner: No. 1-410, for large areas use slow 1-400
